From reading to theatrical action
A recited reading and a practical theater workshop to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Opera and its emotional rooms. The project, designed for primary and secondary school children, includes a series of interpreted reading meetings followed by a practical theater workshop, linked to the text read. An exciting journey, based on a teaching method that alternates playful moments of reading, listening, observation and theatrical action. The proposed reading will be the plot of an Opera, adapted for the participating children and young people. An illustrated book and stage photographs will accompany the reading, projected to facilitate
the understanding of the story. After the recited reading, the theatrical workshop will follow, dedicated to the characters, scenes and atmospheres of the opera. The children will be divided into groups and scenes: each group will have a role to play and will move around the stage space, exploring the emotional dimension of the Opera. After a dialogue and discussion on the story, starting from the impressions and opinions of the participants, the characters to work on will be chosen. The children will reflect on their characters and the places where they live, getting involved in theatrical scenes and actions, in moments of acting and role-playing. Thus they will enter the story read, the images seen and their own creative imagination. From there a new original story will inevitably be born, generated by the plot of the Opera: theirs.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The project aims to:
• stimulate children’s curiosity and observation skills,
sharing ideas within a group;
• bring children closer to the magic of the Opera and, thanks to the workshop,

such as art, literature, music, singing and acting;
• promote theatrical culture in children through storytelling
acting and the game of theater, bringing them closer to the Opera;
• help them become more responsible towards the tasks assigned, both
for the group than for themselves;
• To offer new ways to observe reality across the world
of Opera and Theatre, encouraging them to express their
emotions, to communicate better with others and to strengthen the
self-confidence.
