AcAccess to culture is a right of all. TEATRO NO LIMITS was created precisely to guarantee this right and increase the enjoyment of cultural heritage by blind and visually impaired spectators, this is possible thanks to the creation of audio-descriptive media.
The audio description consists of equipping the spectators with wireless headphones, connected to the control room. Here, a professional reader will “guide” them through the narrative development of the show, without interfering in any way with the progress of the staging. The reader’s story manages to make “visible” all those silent details, fundamental and significant components of any theatrical work, which otherwise could not be captured (set designs, costumes, movements and expression of the actors, etc.). Additional information, of a historical and literary nature, is also provided that can complete the understanding of the work.
The audio description text is prepared previously and integrates perfectly with the theatrical script without ever overlapping with the dialogues and the soundtrack. It’s not a standard, repetitive operation: everything is done live, so that we can seek perfect synergy with each performance, avoiding any discrepancies in the timing of the staging.
The project was born in 2011 thanks to: DIT (Department of Interpretation and Translation) of the University of Bologna – Forlì campus; Forlì-Cesena Provincial Section of the UIC (Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired); Province of Forlì-Cesena; EMILIA Region – ROMAGNA, Department of Culture.
To date, TEATRO NO LIMITS is a truly transversal program of audio-described theatrical performances involving more than 20 theatres in Italy.
The audio-described performances of Prose Season 25|26 will be:
Brokeback Mountain, Il malato immaginario, Gli Innamorati e LisistrataPeMore info:
