Testori, a great, great writer who, when he wrote for the Theatre, gave birth to unforgettable female characters that do not exist in the theater, not only in Italy but I believe in the world. One of these exceptional figures is certainly the one born first, the only winning character of Testori, the one who shouts to the world the power of passion, the love for life lived out of any constraint, convention, compromise: it is La Maria Brasca.
I now feel, thirty years after the first edition and twenty-three years after the second edition, the need to revive “that” show, fascinated by Maria’s desire not to give in, to defend everything that represents his life and not be afraid to talk about happiness (a mood so precious but absent in the theater of Testori and so rare in contemporary dramaturgy) I think it is important to relaunch it in the future time for hundreds more performances.
