After the great success of “Il Berretto a Sonagli”, Gabriele Lavia and his Company face, together with the Teatro di Roma and the Teatro della Toscana for the 2023-24 season, a new production: a funny comedy by Carlo Goldoni “A Curious Accident”. Netherlands 1740, circa. Filiberto, a rich merchant, houses the young French officer De La Cotterie, wounded in battle during a retreat. Between the lieutenant and the young daughter of the landlord, Giannina, a tender love is born that the girl wants to keep hidden from her father fearing his denial.
Therefor she makes us believe that the Frenchman is in love with Constance, daughter of the financier Richard, who is disliked by Filiberto. On the contrary, the merchant, who considers himself “liberal and open-minded”, will facilitate in every way the false union between the two young people, until events take an unexpected turn thanks to the hidden plots of Marianna, servant of FilibertoS and accomplice of her daughter, and Gascony, the attendant of La Cotterie.
