It is Christmas Eve. In a desert square comes on stage a group of lost characters hired as guests for the Christmas show of a private television, between them Ginger and Fred, excited for the evening that will bring them into the spotlight. What they don’t know is that they’ll just have to fill in the gaps between ads. In the night, before the theatre itself, including the audience, becomes the studio of the show, this little humanity will impose itself, softening the audience for the reality of their lives made of loneliness, small ambitions and low aspirations, lies and sudden confessions.
For Amelia and Pippo, Ginger&Fred, it’s different: it was their talent to be admired. They are here to find that hidden thread that had woven the plot of their artistic couple that, for the age, for the conventions, Ginger wanted to give up, leaving Fred alone and injured. They find themselves here and they will try to re-knot that thread but perhaps what they will find will be human solidarity; a closeness that binds simple people together. And then yes, they will dance, and for a long time they will be alone, beautiful and free…
