Agile, disruptive, elusive to the definitions of gender and ductile in the staging, Pane o libertà has the characteristics of an event more than a representation and adapts to any place you want to host the ‘non replica’, even the theater itself. The show mixes the figure of the first Harlequin, the one who owned the ticket to and from the afterlife, to what was then one of his evolutions as a popular entertainer able to range from stables to cabaret. An emergency theater? Organized delirium? Illegal evening? Theater of resuscitation? However a theater of questions.

The title Bread or Freedom I took from a book, but I won’t tell you what it is. I find it very emblematic: the choice between eating, living or having freedom is imposed. But today the words ‘bread’ and ‘freedom’ have the same meaning as when that book happened in my hands? Does bread taste the same as in those times? and today one is free to shout “Down with freedom”.
