LAZARUS

Lazarus arrives in Ferrara, the rock opera by David Bowie and Enda Walsh in the Italian version by Valter Malosti. In the role of the interstellar migrant Newton, an unpublished Manuel Agnelli, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music producer and historical frontman of the Afterhours. Considered David Bowie’s creative testament along with the album Blackstar, Lazarus premiered on December 7, 2015 at the New York Theatre Workshop in Manhattan, coinciding with the artist’s last public appearance, that would have disappeared just over a month later, on January 10, 2016. More than 50 years after the original novel by Walter Tevis and 40 years after the film by Nicholas Roeg that saw him provide his best performance as an actor, Bowie chose to film in Lazarus, together with the award-winning Irish playwright Enda Walsh, the ranks of the unhappy story of The Man Who Fell on the Earth, even with unexpected autobiographical aspects. The show includes repertory pieces and unpublished songs written specifically by Duca Bianco (No Plan, Killing a Little Time and When I Met You, recorded during the sessions of Blackstar) that will be performed by a live band.
