Sleeping Beauty is an incredible masterpiece of classical ballet. The dimension of the dream awakens the magic of fairy tales, an enchanted world of castles, forests, curses and spells. Only a kiss of pure love will break the spell. This work, the consecration of romanticism, based on the story of Charles Perrault “La Belle au Bois Dormant”, integrated in the French style of the eighteenth century, is considered one of the plays that creates more interest for the public. This representation is a great challenge for dancers, especially in the interpretation of the main character Princess Aurora, which requires an elegant and fragile crystalline style. Performed by the world’s leading companies, this masterpiece by Piotr Tchaikovsky is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful pages of the illustrious Russian composer. Eternal melodies such as “Rosa Adagio” and “Grande Valse Villageoise” reveal the lyricism of the author. The relationship between Tchaikovsky’s music and the choreography of Marius Petipa is so perfect that it would be difficult to imagine another reading of the score. Therefore, music and choreography in a brilliant symbiosis have made this piece the most emblematic opera of classical dance.
