In this pièce – at times hilarious – two very distant human events meet in the scenario of an America divided by strong social differences. Maude, an unemployed fifty-year-old, buys an alleged Jackson Pollock painting from a junk dealer for a few dollars.
Lionel, a well-groomed world-renowned art expert, flies to Bakersfield to assess the authenticity of the piece. In the dialogue that follows between the two, Maude proves to be less naïve than she appears and Lionel increasingly fragile, culminating in the overturning of roles that will lead to the epilogue…
