You only enter the hospital for three reasons: if you are ill, if you go to see an ill person, or, if you are particularly unlucky, you have to work there. The protagonist of this monologue had imagined for himself a bright future as a football player, astronaut or famous lawyer; but fate is sometimes surprising, sometimes bizarre, and almost always mysterious, and so, about to receive the Ballon d’Or, he opens his eyes to find himself holding a broom. Starting off from the bathrooms, he will end up at the desk of the Head Nurse, after a whirlwind journey through all the hospital departments, through beds to be made, nuns, doctors, real and imaginary patients, hopes of recovery and diagnoses that extinguish smiles, always with two trusty friends: the broom and the parrot.
